Eich bass board

LowWay

It’s got 4 strings ‘cause they’re bigger!

We’ve recently downsized our home, and my music studio is now one of the empty bedrooms. I am playing through Fostex TH990-Mk2s for monitoring, which have tons of bass, and am thinking about adding a bassboard. Does anyone here have one that can tell me if I can use this without disturbing others in the house? Fortunately my studio room is directly above the garage, so there is no one directly below to worry about.

I tried a Eich bass board last summer at a dealer. He set me up with headphones
and the board. It was wicked bass heaven. You can feel every single note thru your body besides hearing thru headphones.
As far as your question try contacting John Fox Bass. That is the shop I tried it at.

Tactile Transducers like the Bass Board are not designed to produce sound. I don't think they are dead silent, but acoustically they are pretty quiet. However, vibrations from a Bass Board can be coupled directly into the structure and be distributed throughout a building. How much of a problem this causes, will depend to some extent on how much power you send the Bass Board and whether it is placed on a wood floor, cement floor, or cement foundation.

Since your music room is over the garage, I would assume that it will induce fairly significant vibrations into the structure. Can't say whether it will be a problem or not, only that the potential is there.

I DIY'd my bassboard at less than half the cost of an Eich Bassboard. I've been using this board for like 5 years at home and on stage every weekend... and it's been great. I do have all the parts in closet to make a bassboard that functions and looks exactly like an Eich Bassboard, but too lazy to put it together. But my current DIY bassboard has more than enough feedback to feel immersed on a silent stage and at home. Plus, it's a lot lighter and easier to transport than an Eich Bassboard. Musicians that play next to me on stage even tell me they can feel my bassboard vibrating.

@Wasnex is correct that it isn't dead silent. My family can still hear the board vibrating in the living room next to my office/music room. Still better than having vibrating walls with sound. I use a rug under my bassboard since we have wood flooring. I've seen Eich sales vids where they recommend using a rug of carpet under their baseboards also... especially if you're playing on the top floor above rooms. Luckily... my office/music room is on the bottom floor of our house.

I was doing some some silent practice tonight for this Sunday... and snapped a pic of my setup...
