Elbo Room Chicago

Well, Sunday night I will have the dubious honor of playing the last show at Elbo Room in Chicago.

I have played there many times (probably 50 or so) over almost 20 years with many different bands and groups.

Any other fellow Elbo Room alumni out there?

Seriously, nobody has any Elbo Room stories?

I thought everyone in the Chicago area had played there or at least visited.

I’m sad to see it go. Never played there, but I went a couple times when former TBer Jauqo organized bass-centric shows there with Doug Johns, Bill Dickens, etc.

Played there a few times, upstairs and down, with maybe half a dozen bands through the years. It’s always what I thought of as the baseline of a Chicago pub gig should be. Not all great times or great shows, but had plenty of memorable moments.

RIP Elbo.
