Does anybody know something about Electra basses?

I've talked with their Artist Rep a couple of times, and checked out the videos they have. Sadly, I haven't found any "in the wild" that I could put my hands on and get a real idea of them.

Wasn't Electra the brand name tied to the MPC instruments with the swappable built in effects, back in the 70s-90s? Not sure that's the same as what you're asking about here.

Cool bass! Not the one i'm considering of buying (it's a 70's one), but AWESOME!

The MPC Outlaw is the bass with the interchangeable modules. Late 60s.

Squire has played one for years,, but if you look at his control layout vs. the stock sunburst one above, its pretty extensively modified.

Electra was an import brand distributed by St Louis Music and Pacific Coast Music. Instruments were built by various manufacturers in Japan; later ones were by Matsumoku and are good quality. There's an informative fan site at The Electra Forums • Index page

The brand has been relaunched in recent years by Ben Chafin, who used to be head luthier for Dean.
