It looks like the same switch and knob setup (AND EVERYTHING ELSE) as a Thunder II (82-83).There is wiring diagrams for a Thunder two which even include a picture of the circuit board. If this isn't entirely the same electronics I would be shocked Invalid Link Removed

Thanks, I finally figured that out. I had to look at my circuit board and determined this to be the case. I appreciate your response. I think my bridge pick up needs to be rewired.

I picked up one of these that looks exactly like this except it's glossy black. It came with a fretted and fretless neck. I wasn't sure what model it was since it doesn't seem to have any markings to tell you. I'd like to play it more but I'm having some issues to work out before I can. I made a thread about it here.

Take a picture of the control cavity if you can. I know posting pics here can be a drag, sign up for a free photobucket account if you need to, it makes sharing pics easy. Do you have a soldering iron and a multimeter?
You can get a whole setup of both for around $30 at Amazon.

And are you sure it's passive? that's a lot of switches for a passive bass with just a split coil and a single coil.

I took a few pics and will post Monday when I have access to a computer again.

I don't think it was passive originally. The guy I got it from rewired some things. All of the switches have been disconnected. The only things still connected are the pots and jack which are connected to wires I assume are going to the pickups. The pickups are emg so Im sure they aren't the original pickups.

Yea it was a sweet deal. Now if only I get the thing to work.

gotcha. it was most likely a passive bass with an odd switchable active bass boost thing. my thunder III has that active thing, I prefer to play it passively.
if someone tried to ad active pickups to the existing controls it may just explain your weak output.
I'll be curious to see the pics. I dislike EMGs, but a lot of folks like them. I have EMGs in my Thunder I. I can't wait to tear them out.

It sounds like someone threw in some EMGs without changing anything else. could be an easy fix... but with two batteries, one for the EMGs and one for the westone circuit? Or forget the Westone circuit and put in some new 35k or whatever pots EMGs need, or I'm about to sell an EMG BTS EQ preamp system if you want to go that route, but I would suggest buying a set of passive P and J pickups.
