Electric Black strings!?

So I recently played a bass and the strings were great. It was so easy to slide my fingers up and down the neck.
I want to buy some but the problem is I don't know what brand or even what kind they were. He said they were for electric use only and they were flat black and very smooth.

Im going to New Orleans at the end of the week so if anybody could tell me What brand and what kind they were so I could pick some up that would be great.

Could have been nylon tapewounds.

Did they have silk on either end?

Do you recall if they were coated in Nylon? There are plenty of makers that make black nylon strings (Fender, La Bella, GHS, D'Addario, Roto, ...) so it'll be hard to narrow it further with such a vague description. If they were just metal strings colored black, there's a good chance they were DR Black Beauties.

Great strings, very smooth is the best way you can say it. I got a set free when I bought a floor model amp at GC. Cosmetically brilliant, but if you like them for the sound and and don't care what people think of your string choice (my thoughts) try Elixir.

Ok thanks, I have a ESP B4E and its a wood finish so would they look cool with it, really anything is better then the SIT strings I have on it now.
