Recently picked up a Sandberg VM5. Has a P Pickup and a Musicman Pickup. Push-Pull for active/passive and is outfitted with a Sandberg preamp. I have two different amps that I use with my basses. One is a GK 400RB into a Genzler 210 Cab and the other is a Fender Rumble Stage 800 combo.
When I plug this bass in, I get the normal 60 cycle hum due to living in an older house. For that I use and ISP Hum Eliminator and Decimator G. I’m able to eliminate the hum without issue.
However, there is another sort of hum/interference coming into play as well. This interference/hum changes depending on where I stand with the bass. There are a few spots the I can play in where the bass is dead quiet, but if I move the interference comes back. It also gets worse when the treble is turned up on the bass, if I turn the treble down, it goes away almost completely.
I assume this is some sort of electromagnetic interference that’s being picked up since the level of interference/hum changes as I move the bass around the room.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what solutions you came up with to deal with it. With my Decimator G on it’s not too bad as it cuts off the single when I stop playing, but you can definitely still hear it a bit when playing.
