Double Bass Elevating the Ten 2...possible solution

Folks,

I have a steady gig where the space is tight and volume restrictions vary from whisper quiet to average quartet volume.

The space is so tight that my Ten 2 is usually positioned right at my heels. I love the amp, but wanted to get it off the ground for better and more accurate monitoring.

I created this little table. All parts from a local hardware store cost under 20 bucks. This does not include the pro line speaker stand, which I had laying around. The table and mount are what I am speaking of.

This table also allows for the extension feet to be use as well, so as to optimize the down-firing speaker. There are holes in the table that allow the rubber feet to sit safely so the amplifier does not move. It seems pretty safe. I might add a bungee feature to it as well for added security.

I think this will help my monitoring considerably and allow me to better utilize my ATM 350 in live situations with the amp.

Thoughts?

Folks,

Sounds like some of the spaces I've played in. I tried the Ten2, but found that the down firing speaker sounded great when you were right next to it, but didn't have the
same effect out in the audience. I think that most of the
bass response, created by sub woofer, doesn't extend very far into the audience. I wonder if it would work better if you had a satellite speaker to push the mid's and high end, like they use in stereo speakers.

This is a problem for me as well with a QSC K8, so just like you I elevate the K8 on a stand, with it's front firing configuration, it controls the feedback, at the expense of
trading off a some bass response.

I have a bass stool that I use for just this same purpose. It seems to work well. What it does best, is eliminate feedback problems.

I would think that this would help, in the same way that P.A. speakers benefit from their stands. I do think that you will loose bass response since the Ten2 isn't coupled with the floor, but sometimes that's a good thing. Since the AI amps were designed to radiate bass across the surface of the floor, elevating it changes how the amp works.
