Elite vs ultra bass

The first early batches of the Ultra 5 put hundreds, maybe thousands of Ultra 5's out there on the market with a G-string that is almost literally falling off the edge of the fingerboard by the time they reached the upper frets towards the bridge.

Actually, some examples of B strings were found too, but those were a little less common than those with the G-string issue. Somewhere around here there is a pretty sizeable thread about it.

So if you're contemplating an Ultra Jazz (5-string), be sure to eyeball both the B & G string to make sure they are not too close to the edge of the fingerboard - especially from the 12th fret area & higher.

My Elite V is one of the best playing Fenders I’ve owned. This one stays for the long game and I’m not impressed with the changes made for the Ultra series.
