EMG BQC Troubleshooting

I haven't tried 18V yet. Rick sent my pickups and preamp back last week (he also sent a new PX pickup). I installed them, connected a brand new 9V battery and plugged it in - same results as before. Treble/bass still distort and then cut out once they get completely cut.

I'm debating on whether or not I care about those frequency ranges because this is on a fretless and I don't see myself ever lowering the bass frequency with this setup.

Also, before I called Rick at EMG, I did the following troubleshooting: I wired pickups->volume->jack (worked perfectly). Then pickups->volume->balance control->jack (worked perfectly). Then I added the bqc at the end of that chain, the mid control works as intended but the bass/treble malfunctions. This happens when the controls are inside and outside the control cavity (hopefully isolating any involvement with grounding paint).

I intended to run a stacked V/V with a normal tone and a EMG EXB Bass Equalization Control to boost both the bass and treble to give you an instant slap tone. The regular tone control would just tame the highs a little. After the trouble I had I've just set it aside until I feel like it again.

Interesting, I've never heard of the EXB, is it new? Looks very promising, I tend to use stacked treble/bass controls in exactly that way - just turn them both together for more or less boost-scoop-contour-whatever. Exactly what I plan to do on this bass. I definitely want the tone control too though, this is a P with a very pure P tone when the PAX is soloed, but can get real modern too.
