EMG BQS Control System for Modulus Q5 question

Please forgive my ignorance here. I just got a set of EMG 40DC's for my Modulus Q5. I ordered an onboard EMG BQS Control system to go with it.This is a 5 knob system though......ABC Balance Control, Bass controller, Treble controller, Mid range control and master volume. Currently I have 4 knobs. So am I correct that I have to have another hole drilled? There is no room in the cavity if I want the holes, but I can off center the 5th knob a little above the bottom on and in between the 2nd and 3rd knobs(from the top). See picture. Is that my best alternative?

I'm quite sure you can use a stacked pot for the treble and bass. I'd contact emg. You could even search ebay if you are handy with the soldering iron, but I haven't installed much of the current emg stuff. If the existing treble and bass pots have little circuit boards with no components then these should be able to be discarded and replaced with a normal 50KB stack after you have sussed which wire goes to which lug etc. If one of the existing pots has a circuit board with components then it will have to be removed, wired, and heat-shrinked or mounted somewhere. Plus there's the issue of getting stacked knobs to fit etc etc. I do this sort of custom work all the time, and it's actually pretty straight forward.

If you go ahead and drill an extra hole in your bass, get a knob and blu-tac it to the bass, then move it around until it looks like it's in the "right" place. Then use masking tape, a sharp drill a few sizes smaller than the final hole, then gently ream the hole to size. This minimizes chips in the finish.

Best of luck!

I think it's pretty likely you can return it. But they aren't making Modulus basses anymore, and I believe there will be a collector's market for them which will drive the prices up, and extra holes will be frowned upon in that market. Besides, where would you put it? Any extra hole is going to look weird.
