EMG HZ 35 Replacement Question

Alright, so I have looked all over the place and I have not found what I am looking for...honestly not sure if it exists.

So I have a Spector Rebop 4 string that I ripped the tone circuit out of and rewired it passive Vol/Vol/Tone/Tone. It still has the stock EMG 35 HZ pickups in it, they sound decent but not great without the preamp.

Is there a set of passive pickups that sound/mimic a classic P and J configuration in the EMG 35 style? I have considered filling in the pickup cavities with plugs. Sanding it down to match the radius of the body, route for a Dimarzio Model P and J, and having it repainted. I don't want to have to do it but it may have to be done.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What I can't understand is why you bought a Spector bass (Spector is famous for a unique active tone) when you're after a passive sound.

I have a Rebop, and swapped the passive EMGs with active EMGs, and even though i liked the sound at first, now it's amazing.

If you're after a passive traditional PJ sound, i think that it would be better if you traded the bass with something else.

I got this one for an unheard of price on the used market. I already have another Rebop 4 setup active and use it regularly. I love the neck on the bass and the contour of the body. I just want a passive Spector with a P/J sound. Its cheaper for me either find a set of pups that will work with the current routes or modify the body to fit the P/J config.

edit: Also want it to be passive so it plays nice with the woolly mammoth.

They can be ordered in either Bart or EMG sized cases. It's a crapshoot as to whether any online dealer is stocking the EMG size but you're in SoCal so you can always call Carey directly and he can make you a set and route it through the dealer that's closest to you.
yes they can be ordered in EMG 35 size. I have Fat Stacks which are massive and aggressive sounding yet warm and smooth. Im going for a set of big splits in my MTD KZX Ltd.

Just spoke with someone over at Nordstrand. We discussed either doing two NJ4s in the 35 casing or a Big Split in the neck and a NJ4 in the bridge in the casing. Now I just have to decide what to do!

Thanks for the help.

There you go - Nordstrands are my fav pickup yet in the 30 years Ive been playing bass! im eager to get a set of SGD pickups for another bass i want to de-bart.

There again ! You got the suggestions you needed. I'd go for the SGDs! I want a set in my MTD Saratoga v.1. I'm just debating if I should route for Dual Coils or leave the j-style pups in.

Well my Jazz pickups are dual coil, but they sound more like single coils than my wide aperture pickups. The Neo Jazzbuckers are like fat single coils.
