EMG QUESTION

DGbass70 said:
by the way ,looks like i might have to order this pick up
since none of the local music stores has it.
which is a good place to get it from(online ordering)?

The only place that I have found online that has all of the EMG bass pickups is Invalid Link Removed .

And they are cheaper there to.

I purchased all of my EMG components from the bass place.

so,
i have a NS2000/5 with EMG hz (passive) and an active EMG preamp (bts ?)
The preamp use one 9volts battery
if i change my EMG hz to EMG 40DC/CS who will be active, do i need to have two 9Volts battery (for pickup) and one 9v
= 3 battery on my bass or the two battery for the pickup can be used for the preamp too ?

i hope my english is understable...

thanks

Hey, good chatting with you on MSN earlier!

To be clear, with a DC/CS + BT setup, it can all run off the same 18v power source, so you only need 2 nine volt batteries wired in SERIES (NOT parallel!!!) EMG recommends 18 volts on their site and in their product info sheets. I highly reccommend it as well, totally gives you some more headroom (not volume, contrary to popular belief.)

Is it absolutely necessary fro you to have 18V instead of 9V?

I'm going to be putting a DC40 in the neck, and a CSTW40 in the bidge position for my home made 5-string.
(no preamp)

Here's what EMG has to say about it, copied from the spec sheet/installation instructions on their web-site:

Only one battery is required for the pickups, and any active accessories such as the BTC, BTS, BQC, VMC, B30, and B64 equalizers.
Two batteries wired in series for 18 volts is recommended for bass to increase headroom and enhance performance.
(bold emphasis is mine, not EMG's...)
