I know many fellow Tb'rs HATE Hz's..but what is your experience or knowledge of the EMG-SSD pickups?

Personally I'm so unfond of the Hz's that I've never been able to make myself put other EMG's into any bass I've ever had. I know many others like them...
.
Having said that, the SSDs HAVE to be better than the Hzs.![]()
I wouldn't mine throwing an EMG into my MTD Kingston Artist to see if that gets me closer to the deeper tone I am looking for.

Can you provide us with some information about the EMG-SSD pickup used on some Spector basses? We've been unable to find any significant information about these pickups aside from their being made for Spector by EMG to your specifications.
All we have heard is that these are basically similar to the "HZ" EMG design.
Any additional information will be appreciated. A link is fine.

thanks for the email.
our EMG-SSD pickups are exactly as you describe - passive humbuckers designed for us by EMG. tonally they have a little more mids than EMG-HZ pickups. that's about it...!
these pickups are used in our Legend Classic basses.
I hope this info helps. let me know if I can help in any other way.
talk to you soon,
