eminece delta12 speaker

standard delta12, it's a pretty good speaker, but not for bass guitar. the delta12lf is a bass speaker. go to eminence's web site. look under resources, and then under cabinet designs. that will give you a good idea about what the speaker will do. pay close attention to the power handling limits and low frequency filter requirements.
 
well,i was searching infos about the standard delta 12 and...damn!! now i find out that it insn't for bass guitar.

there's a guy that is offering me a beautiful 1x12 cab with eminence delta 12,now i ask to him if the speaker is standard 12 or delta 12!

4mal, The speaker must be used in a 1x12 + tweeter cabinet.

damn,in the eminence web site i can't recognize which speakers are for bass guitar and which are not!!!

Kappa and Delta speakers seems to be good,but i can't understand which models are the best for bass(i need a 8 ohm 12'' speaker)

12A Usable Frequency Range 54Hz-5kHz
12B Usable Frequency Range 65Hz-5kHz
12LFA Usable Frequency Range 44Hz-3kHz

Nothing I saw indicates that any of those speakers would fail if you plugged a bass into them, but looking at the low end of their frequency range, you can see that the LFA is the best choice, and the A is better than the B, but neither one of those two are really optimal, unless you're also using another speaker to handle the lows. On the spec sheet PDF, Eminence says the LFA is suitable for bass guitar, but it doesn't say that for the other two speakers, or the Kappa 12.
 
according to eminences site:

the delta12a (8ohm)
in a 2.75 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 55hz
it has an f3 of 54.32hz

that's not to bad, but the driver's excursion limits the power handling to 50 watts (with a steep 40hz filter) not good having a 112 that will only handle 50 watts before the cone bottoms out.

the delta12b (16ohm) being a 16 ohm speaker will usually disqualify a speaker for a bass amplifaction application, for a single driver cab at least.
in a 2.2 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 57.32hz
f3 is 64.53 and power is limited to 60 watts (with a 50 hz filter)

the delta12lf
in a 3.25 enclosure tuned to 41.42hz it has an f3 of 43.87hz and power is limited to 125 watts (with a 35hz filter) much better for bass application.
better still is a 2.5 cubic foot box tuned to 50 hz with an f3 of 48.33 hz and a power handling of 200 watts. gives up just a bit of extra lows for a smaller lighter enclosure with more power handling.

a non-lf delta just isn't a great speaker for bass. btw f3 is the frequency at which response has dropped by 3db, and usually below that response just drops like a rock.

the deltalite 2 (12") is also a good bass speaker, but i'll let you look up those specs on your own.
