Empire State Build (and other random stuff)

This'll be in my living room. When I build a new house, of course. ;)

heck yah...that would be awesome you should start that straight away. The local hobby store has 2 large tracks very similar. I almost started to get into more serious racing. I bought a large gas powered monster truck instead. Now in the winter time I consider it more. Very dedicated group of racers.

one warning...it would be very hard to make people leave your house with a track like that! or instead of the old poker game at home...you could get people to throw money around for racing, dont know if it would pay for the house, but it might pay for new toys:p

well my tiny little construction workers made some progress, finished this section and stuck it on the model. About 8 little tabs hold the section in. Have to be real careful to not crush the model or bend the tabs when joining sections.

That's a world standard track, the Blue King. Been the same since the late 60s, I think. I raced on one in my high school daze; the official world track record was around 4 seconds for 155 ft. back then (early 70s). Many local guys were within a few tenths of that, and we had serious aircraft engineering types in the racers' gene pool to keep us all honest. The current record for that track is under 1.5 seconds, but they run higher voltage and huge rear air dams these days.

Pretty sure my wife would leave though...;)

That puzzle looks pretty cool. When I was a kid we always had one kind or another in progress in the living room.

They were gaming figures. I don't own any anymore (don't play the game) but I might have an old tank or two that I've painted.

Heh...:) I completely understand:scowl: I use to have alot of painted figures too...buried somewhere. In fact after your earlier post I dug around in my garage trying to find em.

no luck yet, but if i find em, maybe i will post some pictures.
Im thinking they could work good for my slot car set have a invading army pillaging Christmas town. oh nooo!

Here is top notch Union Worker. Since law says he can only do one specific task on the job. His main job is to knock all the pieces onto the floor. I must say he is ahhhh..... very good at his job.
right now he is planking the granite on break.

here is the real workers planking the beam

This was my most recent. First time I really went all out--tried new painting and detailing techniques.

I've got three more kits waiting to be built, but can't use my airbrush in the cold so they'll have to wait until Spring.
Nice work. It looks like it is about ready to take off.

Have great news for the slot car fans viewing the thread!!

Apparently Life Like has made something that would even satisfy Gomez Addams need for childish entertainment.

Anyways as far as construction. Despite recent attacks from cat zilla. I'm putting together some of the last pieces, should be easier but still a rather pain in the butt ski.

Last build was my whole basement that got flooded out in 2010.

Got the German Revell model N. Atlantic trawler done mostly before that and done after.

This winter I am doing the Finnjett Silja line ferry. I took that from Turku Finland to Stockholm. Great trip if you like Finns, booze, chocolate and partying. I bough the model when I saw it.

I have learned that when you see a model you like, BUY IT. They get discontinued, then you can't find the subjects you like.

Exactly. There was a discontinued 1/32 F-86 done up in Korean War-ear S. Korean AF markings that I wanted, and the last one sold. Of course it's not easy convincing certain family members that it warrants building up a stash.

I've been enjoying reading this thread, but I do have an inquiry based on this last photo.

In the background we see a couple 40oz cups, no problem there.

There's a random can of something, which I would personally like to think is "Spaghetti-O's", although I do see there clearly is a cat on it and a Friskies logo.

Moving on, now we get to the suspect part of this photo - a small stick of what appears to be "Secret" deodorant. I know they say it is "strong enough for a man..." but I do not think men actually use this product. Perhaps it has some arcane use in building models. Regardless, I am intrigued.

yah as far as flooding basements, when my father passed away the basement was flooded by a wretched disaster called my step mom. I dont want to even metion how many vintage kits that ##### threw away or sold.

anyways Jinro is this something similar you were looking for?

I think a company called Kinetic made a 1/32 and the decals are slightly incorrect. So people used a decal set by SuperScaler
which of course is out of print. I found a guy in the UK who sells discontinued kits and decals. Check this
I seen a few 1/32 ground crew sets too, since you like to do displays.

Don't forgot to keep the batteries for your Slash and Stampede in good health over the winter!

oh these battery get seriously abused, except for my 5000's

any good advice? i dont really know proper maintenance, I abuse my batteries alot. I'm still running everyday blasted a few batteries last night. Its funny everyone told me how stupid the stampede is. And between my electric and gas revos and slashes. I been having a blast poping wheelies and hitting ramps hard with the stampede, its got a velineon motor...its fast! very light car.

I'm a complete mad man my organization makes no sense, I have auto tools in the kitchen cabinets, and dishes in my bedroom. The dining table is a slot car set, and the living room is my office.
The garage is so messy, that I now use the kitchen as my work bench

So likewise I leave deodorant in places like the bathroom to find it easy right?.....no I leave it in garage...I mean kitchen, where I spend most my time.

the rest of the story, cologne drives me crazy and most gel based mens stuff gives me rashes and horrible headaches. I cannot stand perfume in general. I dont try to be weird but my nose wants to be.....:scowl:so i have to use womens baby powder.:bawl:......:D
Really great I know my friends make fun of me all the time, and i cant do much about it.:rollno: I had luck with one male deodorant, but they changed the formula and back to womens it was.

Well, it's the right jet lol. The kit I wanted was done in S. Korean markings and camo paint scheme, like this:

rokaf_f86_sabre.jpg

I actually found the FS numbers for the paint scheme, so if I found decals in 1/32 I could just use any old F-86 kit. Or, considering the size of 1/32, I may be able to just make stencils and paint the markings on. Sounds like a good project idea.

Cheater! Cheater! I decided to add capacitors to my slot cars, with the idea that it would help carry the car over some dead spots on the track. Dont think it did much, so i spent alot of time cleaning up the track....wow it flys now!!

So I started to leave the bodys off the cars, and boy does it help keep them on the track. Shaving the weight and lowers the center of gravity. Then I thought, heck why not put some lights on these things? I used a 1.8k resistor and a red Led to get a good brightness, but the 3 volt Leds kept burning out..to much juice, and not enough brightness if a used a larger resistor.

So using these high output square blue 4 volt leds seems to keep up with being over juiced and look really neat going down the track.
