Double Bass Endpin Help please

I sawed my friends endpin off (to be able to use a bass wheel) and now the screw that holds up the endpin won't work. I think I lost a dime-sized metal thing that was supposed to be up in the screw-set when I sawed the endpin off, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

There's a little brass 'hockey puck' in there that spreads the pressure from the thumbscrew.

Easy enough to make one from brass or aluminium rod, if you have the tools and skills.

Try calling Metropolitan Music . They sell that kind and might be able to provide a replacement. Invalid Link Removed

Be sure to check to see if it's in the bass. When I had that endpin, it used to end up there when it fell out. Also, you should turn the socket around so the tightening screw faces down when the bass is on its side.

ok. thanks guys. i called a local luthier and i think he'll be able to fabricate a replacement "hockey puck"
