Enough Tubes. Let's Talk Solid State! Name Your Favorites and Why?

It is a hybrid, but the power amp is 100% solid state so I felt it deserved a mention. Besides, the fact that it has a torriodal transformer doesn't make it a deviation in the world of bass amps. I'm pretty sure my 1001's power tranny is shaped like a bagel;)
yeah, I got it, and I am in total love with my WA, but it does have tubes in it and I think the OP was really getting at full SS amps in this thread as his title is "enough tubes, lets talk solid state, name your favorites and why"
I could be wrong, but .....

its all good either way

On the complete opposite side of the spectrum from my first post; I have to give a nod to the GK MB200. I don't own one, I probably never will own one, but I played one a couple times at a local rehearsal studio. The amount and quality of sound coming out of that little box was astounding. And for $200 used(+-$50), they're the bargain of the century.

For SS, I'll take some Peavey.

Of course, I am a big tube fanatic but I also love a lot of Solid States. There's been a ton of Tube Talk lately, let's talk solid state.

What's your pick of the litter and why?

My own, because the builder can never blow me off when I need tech support and never argues when I say they could be better. Link Removed

I love my Yorkville 400B.It is very powerful for a 400 watt and crystal clear.Very simple to use.A bit hefty but I love it.I got it as a back up to my SWR redface and ended up using the Yorkville more.I don't really need much "warmth" or distortion thats not coming from my pedals

Honestly, I am not a fan of tubes for bass at all. Never have been since I had a 70s Kustom 250 with two 2x15 cabs. I prefer the way solid state performs and sounds and feels. Today, I use a Fender Rumble 100 and a 200. They fill a room perfectly for me. The 200 seems to get the women to the dancefloor better than any amp I have ever had. But, if I were younger, I would still also have my Ampeg B100 Rockets (the perfect SS bass amp). It just got too heavy. I got over the loss quickly enough because the Rumbles are that good. Bottom line for me: I prefer SS bass amps in every way.

Back in the day, it was Acoustic for the serious bass players where I grew up, but I never had one.

I'm really happy with my MarkBass LMII. It just sounds good. It's small and light and reliable. I found that it was really easy to dial in a good sound. I use it with a Wizzy 12 for gigs or a Wizzy 10 for practice.
