Had two of these amazing cabs, sold one. These cabs will be heard at a longer distance than any Ampeg 8-10 SVT cab, I had two of those.
I cannot make a comparison with other 8-10's, as I haven't heard any of the other brands. The lows are a bit bigger sounding to me as well. I believe a B-48 MF will also sound amazing, but I like the smaller 'J' box a bit better than the 'W.'

Get another 410. 8x10 is the biggest surface area of any mainstream single cab. Split it into two for portability and you're golden.

Check the power ratings of the two cabinets. The 1x15 will NOT produce any more lows than a ten. That's a myth. That's the explanation.

Fortunately...I say fortunately mine are 240W/200W respectively. I was looking to add warmth (to the Hartkes), not necessarily lower notes when I added mine. To be honest, I am still on the fence as to what I will do in the near future. We have a Backline 410 at the practice room that the band was using (prior to me joining) to audition bassists. Perhaps I will use that instead of my TE 1153T and see how it sounds and then decided on an RBH.

Since my 410 is 4 ohm, I am thinking I will look for an 810 and just have both cabs(not together) at my disposal depending on the gig. Has anybody ordered from GC used inventory on big cabs? Will they still ship it to your local store for free?

Just check Craigslist, Kijiji, etc, I see big ampegs locally for under $500 quite often. I'm running a Mesa PH412, and used to own an Ampeg 810e. My Ampeg was an 01, and IMO, this Mesa smokes it in every way. Better low end, mids, and highs (even with the tweeter all the way off). The Mesa is about 100X easier to move then the Ampeg, and I think it looks cooler.

Dont get me wrong, I loved that Ampeg fridge, and I had nothing but good things to say about it, until I got my Mesa.

And yes, I still do have that Ampeg. It's in my garage right now (and no, that's not my jam space).

These mesas are the real deal. They're built for hard rock and metal players, and they do a great job.

I'm surprised the 6x10 was not included, however based on the choices I would say go for the 8x10 if size and weight is not a factor. In theory the more speakers the more volume you have if you are looking for more volume. Looking a little smaller size wise the 2x15's are the classic bass amp. I would say get whatever you want and fits what you are looking for in a cab as well as price.

i play a M/B diesel 410 in one band and a SWR Megoliath in another. both amazing cabs that sound great. but i must say, spreading that wattage over 8 speakers is something every bassist should experience

Tell them to turn down. A 4x10 should get you by at any gig that wouldn't already require PA support.
