Ok I know this is a common subject here, but I'm still curious as to what everyone prefers.

I've tried the DOD fx25, the Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Bassballs.

The digitech is cool, but it distorts easily and I've decided it sounds a little too processed.

I see random clips about the following

1.) T. Miranda Envelope B-Man Emb-1
2.) Boomstick Bottom Feeder
3.) Envelope Filter Review

Has Anyone tried the last 3 I mentioned? Anything I'm missing? The Mu Tron iii just seems crazy expensive.

I've had a fair few filters (DOD 440 clone, DOD FX25 (three of them), Q-Tron, Q-Tron+, Bass Auto Q, ... can't remember which others), I've settled on the Bassballs (because it's pretty unique) and the Robot Factory Meatwad. And I suppose the BMS but I never use just the filter on that.

Although I'm still always tempted to buy more, realistically the Meatwad does everything and sounds great doing it. I'm looking forward to trying out the filter on the Octavius Squeezer when it arrives though. :)

I've got the digitech BSW, bottom feeder, bassballs, Haz Labs Mu-tron III+, Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer plus various multis (G5 and ME-50B).

The Mu-tron III+ and OS are on my board and I use them equally.

I have an original Musitronics Mu-tron III on it's way and I'm hoping for filter nirvana :bassist:

I like the Pigtronix EP-1. It is one of the few envelope filters that actually allows you to "hold it down" while it is engaged.
I usually don't like to play with effects because they tend to rob you of low end but, I have never had this problem with Pigtronix effects.

have owned

original mutron iii
lovetone meatball (on my 3rd one currently)
korg g5 synth (filter on it)
akai deep impact synth (filter on it)
ehx qtron+
ehx bassballs (vintage and new one)
ehx dr. q (vintage and nano)
emma discombobulator
dod fx25 (flat green vintage one)
ehx tube zipper
ehx zipper filter (vintage, different from tube zipper)
moog bass murf
moog lowpass filter
ehx bass micro synth (filter on it)
original mutron v

i love envelope filters if you can't tell.

the best IMO are the lovetone meatball and original musitronics mutron iii. i also love the bassballs but it's not a standard sounding "quack" filter.

the best bang for your buck are ehx qtron and vintage ehx zipper (NOT tube zipper)
