Envelope filters

Justin,

I need to pick your brain about envelope filters. I have active Sadowskys, and vintage P-Bass and Jazz basses. I need to find an envelope filter that can handle both types of output. Seeing as the EF pedals are signal dependent, the high output of the Sadowkskys are too much for the EF pedals I've tried.

The only one that seemed to handle the hot input signal was the Guyatone Ultron, but that just has too many things to tweak for me. I like things simpler for playing live. Any suggestions?

Hmmm...I wish I could help, but i just don't know. All my basses are passive.

Maybe someone in the effects forum can answer?

I've got about a dozen envelope filters, you name it and I've got it or had it. I haven't heard one yet that could handle my Sadowsky jazz with the preamp engaged and still sound good, or decent. I always bypass the preamp when I use it and works fine, or as good as it can. Passive basses just jive, I think, really well with EF's. My two cents.

I've been doing something wrong apparently as I can't hear a huge diff between active and passive through my FX-25B. Bow-chicka-BOW-bowww...

Don't know if you tried these already, but the EBS BassIQ, EMMA Discumbobulator and recently the 3leaf Groove Regulator all have played nicely with my passive Jazz and my G&L.
I don't have a Sadowsky though, maybe they have a very hot output?

@Justin: What, did you get rid of the Stingray already?

EMMA Discombobulator works with all mine. never had any issues. Really nice sounding and well-built pedal too.

I'm pretty sure justin wouldnt just throw away the stingray so soon, and to add, the whole "I have no passive is basses" a blatant lie!
Wal, Stingray, Jaguar (though you play it passive, its not an excuse), Steinberger, Gibson RD,...
So dont be a hater! they may not be in your arsenal too often, but they're there!
