Epi' fender copies?

I keep finding supposedly epiphone basses on ebay that have either a precision or jazz body. Are these actualy models that epiphone produced? or did someone slap on an epi' neck? IF they were actual models, when were they produced? Did they make good basses?

I'm just curious because i think they look kinda cool... :hiding:

my first bass was one of these...an Epiphone Accu Bass. or basically, their take on a Precision. (their copy of the Jazz was called the Rock Bass.)

it was pretty good for what it was, and when it was made. at the time, i was playing guitar and messing around on a 4-track, so i bought it from a friend so i could lay down bass lines. when i started getting more interested in the bass itself, i spent many hours with it, learning my way around the art of proper bass playing.

it was pretty sturdy. had a great neck, and a good hefty body. the bridge design (through-body, with these rounded saddles) was interesting and never gave me trouble. however, the pickup sucked. no real life to it. that was my only gripe with it. if i'd replaced the pickup, it might have sounded really good.
