Epi Thunderbird Hum Diagnosis

My Epi Thunderbird has a noticeable hum when I touch the strings or bridge which seems to go when I touch the metal part of my lead that's in the input jack.

I don't know much about electronics but I'm guessing it's a grounding or shielding issue and I would like to get this fixed asap!

:help:

Thanks!

Sounds like the bridge is not grounded. There should be a wire from the ground terminal of the jack (or some other ground point) that gets clamped between the body and the base of the bridge.

edit: it's an Output jack. Sound comes out of the bass and goes into the Input jack on the amp.

Which variety of Tbird is this? Is it one of the special runs with the chrome pickups? Reason I ask, I have one and I had to finally ground the pickup cages to get the humming to stop.

Once I did that, it was dead silent.

All the best,

Bob
