Epifani 4x10 vs. Ampeg 4x10

You have read correctly!! I've blown considerable cash on power amps in the last 10 years. Had everything from Mackie 1400i, then Stew 2.1 then QSC PLX 3002, then anotehr Stew, then Peavey DPC 1400 then Crown K1 then Crest CE2000 and now the CA-9. It is the heaviest booger I've had... but none better. I know that Power amp tone is subjective, but for my tastes, this is exceptionally a better product.

Again... heavy as hades.... don't forget... HEAVY!!

Wished the CE 12 used the standard household plug. Yeah,..... I'd do it.

And this is with a multitude of basses and amps that include F Bass, Fodera, MTD, Lull, and Pre Gib Tobias.... amps include Manley, Avalon U5, Ag DB750, & Walter Woods.

Take it for what it's worth, and if possible, give both versions of these truly GREAT cabs a try. I am an NYC STOOPID FOOL, just can't get enough.... and I've got my eye on a few more......

I'd like to see that as well. These are dimesions from their site.

UL-410:
26.25" H x 23" W x 17.75 " D
Sensitivity: 103db SPL @ 1w 1m
Weight: 57 lbs.

UL-310:
23" H x 21.5" W x 16.5 " D
Sensitivity: 103db SPL @ 1w 1m
Weight: 47 lbs.

I have both also, but they are in different cities at the moment. The 310UL is significantly smaller, but not that much lighter 48 pounds vs. 57 pounds. It's a great cab, but if you really need to wump, the 410 puts out exponentially more sound... although at moderate volumes, they sound almost identical. I like the 310UL because it easily fits in the back seat of a car, and sometimes I need to do that, depending on the gig and if I'm on the road without my car... however, I use the 410 whenever possible over the 310.

PS It looks like from that picture, the 310 is an NYC and the 410 is a UL (due to the Epifani printing on the cones... although I'm not sure)... I have not done direct sound comparisons between those two cabs, but the NYC 310 weighs significantly more than the 410UL.

that's an NYC. but size wise, its the same.

i was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to getting the UL410, but realized there's no way that would fit in the backseat of my sedan. the 310 just barely clears the backdoors as it is.

but volume wise, the UL310 pounds out some serious SPL's, more than enough than i'd ever need. can only imagine what a UL410 will push! :eek:

That's why I keep that 310UL... it's the biggest, loudest but still light cab that fits in a back seat!

I'm kind of surprised that the Epifani guys completely did away with the NYC line. While I personally prefer the UL's, those NYC's are very cool also. You would have thought they would have kept a few basic cabs (maybe a 112 and a 410) in the line. I guess their volume went primarily to the UL's after they were released and it didn't make financial sense to keep both lines.

That is also the small problem I have! I have actually ordered a 4x10UL i 4 0hm but I got me to rethink (If that's word) but do I need it :p I really dig the 4x10UL but I don't have that many big stage gigs, maybe 8-10 a year. The thing with the 3x10UL is that it would be easier to take it on the bus or train and still have a powerful setup! 502/3x10UL and an Fodera Emperor 4 :cool:

I finally got my carrybag for the 502 amp, so I have the bass on the back and my amp over the shoulder and then carry the cab with my hands. It easier to travel one 3x10 cab then two 1x12's.

But still? If i got the 4x10 I will never look for a bigger cab :confused:
