Epiphone Embasy Bass and Orange O bass

I think they're both beautiful, and hope to play one in a store someday!
The O Bass, in particular, calls to me but I get a very strong feeling it's a "love it or hate it" proposition and historically I have kept zero of those

i'm with JimmyThunder : they're both nice.
i assume you have an interest in one/both of those --- what kind of opinion(s) are you looking for, OP?
I heard in different reviews the the Orange O bass has neck dive.
I am a long time guitar player,looking to buy a bass and start playing that with more serious intent. I am not one of those guitarist who thinks just because i can play a guitar I can switch over to bass. I plan on taking some lessons and learning the right way.
Looking for more than just an entry level/ beginners, but not looking to break the bank either.
The ones above caught my eye. The spec's I am looking for , are passive pup's, dont want to deal with active and a battery. Traditional long scale length of 34", would prefer a single cut(those are hard to find and plus alot seem to come in the 30" short scale), between 300.00-500.00 max,nothing fancy, keep it simple, and I dont like the upper and lower horns to be to long and pointy like a lot of bass guitars tend to be. Four strings only. As far as pup combinations I am open . I prefer something with an hb,or mini hb, but not totally against p and j styles either.
Along with the ones above I am eyeing
If I could find and Epi Les Paul bass
Ibanez TMB 100 or 300----yeah I know they have active. but its the price point, cool looking and
they make quality products.
Ibanez PCBE12MH Electro Acoustic Bass-its a short scale, but I thought about starting with
it before going full blown. Easy to pickup and play.

O bass? I could see myself playing one...not buying one, but the price was right.
Hopefully sellers are asking $100 less than the original price and not $200 more.
Other than that, neck dive is a non-issue.
Seriously though, I'd go Kiloton. You won't regret it.
By the way the Ibanez TMB-500 has a passive switch and the Nordstrand pickups are far superior to the Ibanez ones.

Thanks for replying and your input. Yeah the Kiloton has been towards the top. I have never played one, just reviews and demos online.

Very simple. I don't like the way they look. Never have. They remind me of cheap Japanese basses from the '60s...as if not much thought went into the shape.
Today, more than ever before, we can buy basses that sound good and look good, too.

Just look up the Embassy thread(s), there are fans here. I have 3 myself, plus 2 Fender bodies with the same pickups, and a Lull Thunderbird 5. If you like the Thunderbird tone, but not necessarily Thunderbird ergonomics (like me), Embassy's are a great and inexpensive way to go. Examples of Thunderbird tone are Wishbone Ash, Tesla, Kings of Leon, The Who, Mike Watt, Nirvana, Mott the Hoople, Lynrd Skynyrd, Sonic Youth, and many others.
I do remember the ibanez TMB offering a passive switch ,for some reason I thought it was on the 300 model.
The Kiloton is a bass I still really want to check out. I love my GL JB2,and like my L-1000, but i think i would prefer the kiloton's bridgeward pickup placement better than the 1k's.
By the way,the Kiloton is passive,not active. It does feature a 3-position mini toggle for different sounds.
Also,as an ex-owner of both the original 67 Embassy and one of the first year reissues,they are a great alternative sound to the usual Fenders,etc. The remake fixed the neck dive issue of the originals,and the pickups in the new ones sound fab. I personally think it's a terrific looking design.
One of the best features of the new design is that it is a full 34" scale,but the design makes it feel more compact, a very comfortable and light bass to strap on.

I have been looking for the Ivory finish, but cant find it. I just saw the 4 finish options at Epi

Getting back to the original question, I've never seen or played one of the Orange basses.
Have to admit I find it majorly unattractive. Looks very cobbled together and cheep.
It's on the new 500 and the discontinued 600...the Prestige, too.
