EPIPHONE FENDERBIRD?

I am considering putting together a budget Fenderbird by combining an Epiphone Thunderbird (they go go for under $300on ebay) with a Fender or Warmouth Jazz neck. Has anbody tried this? Will it work? Will the Fender neck bolt right on?

Personally, I have no idea. If you have an epiphone t-bird then whip the neck off and measure...

cannot guarantee an exact fit. (different manufacturers specs)

why not just get the body from Warmoth too??? Is it just because it would be cheaper to get the Epi (plus you would have pickups and electronics??? At least this way you would have a neck that would fit right...

You could do a Warmoth body... I think their standard model is routed for the Musicman humbucker in the sweet spot... I'm not sure if Warmoth routes them for the Thunderbird pickups.

Hi.

Short answer: No, it can't be done, the parts won't fit.

Longer answer: It's doable and no doubt has been done several times, but involves some routing and/or moving the bridge.

The only Fender-ish 20 fret neck I have, is about 15mm longer (~Epi lip) and the heel radius is different. Don't know about the width because the F-ish neck is a 5-stringer, but the scale is close enough (~1mm off). The width of T-bird neck heel is (16th) 56,38mm(2.220")/ (20th) 58.10mm(2.285") so if some-one with a Fender neck can provide the same measurements, the amount of routing can be determined.

BTW, the scale lenght on my Epi T-bird is 863mm vs. 864mm of the F-ish neck.

The Goth Epi bird is already a Fenderbird (bolt on maple neck on a Mahogany T bird body?
