Epiphone ID?

Can anyone help me out here? I've had this bass for 12 years now, but never have asked about it. My wife (then gf) bought it on consignment at the local music shop. In the years since I've gotten to know the seller who remembers playing it sometime in the 60's. I can't verify that, or really find anything out on it either. I've seen some cheap Epi's with the same shape, but they're not the same. As you can tell, it's in great shape. I just want to know what it is. Thanks in advance.

Appears to be a 70s Epi made by the Matsumoko Company of Japan. They made instruments for Gibson labeled as Epiphones and many others. They marketed identical models as Aria, Vantage and other brands.

I've got a couple of Matsumoko/Epiphone guitars and they're good guitars. So far not real valuable in the collector market, but I've noticed prices are going up as their appreciation is.

Good luck in your search. Hope this helps. There are a couple of dedicated websites regarding these.

Close. That's the kind I've seen before. Mine has a multilayer pickguard though, and neither the PG or the truss rod cover have the cheap looking generic "E" on them. It could be the same bass, but I don't think so. Maybe different "trim" levels?
