Epiphone Newport looks like a winner.

In some pictures the bridge pickup looks like it’s right up against the bridge. I’m others it looks to be in more of the stingray position. It’ll be interesting to hear regardless.

 

Too broke for a Serek, so this is right up my alley. Might need a thumbrest though...

Yeah, that bridge pickup is way too close to the bridge for my comfort... a little further up and I'd say it was a winner.

It looks real pretty in yellow/orange though...

I really like the way this looks, if I ever got around to playing garage rock again, this would be ideal

Agree, would like to see this with the bat wing headstock… that said, I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this bass.

Here's my original 61 Newport, currently being restored.

Didn't know they were reintroducing them...
Not sure why they added a bridge pup.... the originals sported one mudbucker, right against the neck. Basically Epis version of an EBO.
Great looking and well balanced short scale.
The bass I cut my teeth on.

 

This is now at the top of my GAS list. I may have to pull the trigger on one this week.

Different Tuners...
Different headstock...
Guess they weren't going for a replica thing. Kinda updated it.
Still dig it..

 

If I can find one locally to try, I'll probably be picking one of these up. Nice colors too!

 

IF I were into short scale basses and ...
IF it came with a "hockey stick" head stock as opposed to the current one (although that might make the name-plate logo difficult to display) and ...
IF they offered the original pick-up configuration ...
I might get interested, pretty quickly.

I do like some of the colors and the over-all look.

 

This looks awesome, may have to get one of these! The hardest decision is what color to pick! That yellow is super cool!
