Epiphone Newport looks like a winner.

There was a double humbucker version available in Japan.Here's my original 61 Newport, currently being restored.

Didn't know they were reintroducing them...
Not sure why they added a bridge pup.... the originals sported one mudbucker, right against the neck. Basically Epis version of an EBO.
Great looking and well balanced short scale.
The bass I cut my teeth on.
The 1960-63 newports had this same headstock, only 64 and later had the batwing and the shorter lower horn.Different pickups...

Guess they weren't going for a replica thing. Kinda updated it.

there was a MIJ version for the Japanese market that had 2 humbuckers, they pop up on eBay sometimes, always a light natural wood finish.
agree with you on the rest tho, I like the clover tuners on the original better. It’s definitely a reinterpretation, not a reissue.
Damn, a couple of beers and I find myself the new owner of one of these. I guess it'll be here on the 28th. We'll see. It weighs 7lbs 6 oz and is Pacific Blue. I sure hope I like it.

I resisted the Embassy, but this would be a great bass to have around!
I like them. They look cool and are priced nicely. If they just had a single neck pickup only, I’d probably have one on order by now.
I have one on order and hope to post an update soon including a comparison to my EB-0 or whatever they call it now. Was and still am stressed out over which color to select.

I'd prefer the one above. Could sound more balanced. Maybe they changed it to resemble more the EB-3 positions.

This is the one I've got coming from sweetwater, it's got the pickup further from the bridge....Noticed the same.

Holy crap. All the Newports are gone from Sweetwater. There were like 10 of them on Tuesday. Looks like they have more in stock but are acclimating to their warehouse temps before they can do the 55 point inspection.

The bridge pickup on this one looks much further away from the bridge than in the photos on Canada's primary music retail chain's website... I am very confused.
Looks like a "wait until I can play it" kind of thing.
One of them arrived at my house a couple hours ago! I finished the order late yesterday morning (and I'm pretty close to Fort Wayne). Now undergoing their traumatic 24 hour wait before unboxing.
