Hi, I'm hoping someone can help as I'm kind of at my wits end. I really like this bass, but I don't know that I've ever put so much work into an instrument. Getting the pickup volume balanced against each other and for each string has been nearly impossible, but I've finally got it pretty close. The second problem is that the tone controls do not work. I thought perhaps the pots were janky as they were scratch. I bought new CTS pots for both volume and tone and wired them exactly as the originals. Still no tone for either pickup. Volumes continue to work fine, as does the switch and stupid baritone switch.
I checked the wiring against this page and it seems fine: Gibson EB2 bass wiring diagram and photos >> FlyGuitars
Here is a picture, that I know may be hard to see. But the tone pots are so simple: sweeper lug to the volume and pickup, ground through a .04 cap to ground. Any help would be great. I don't know if perhaps the caps are bad? Maybe I can try new ones.
