epiphone Tbird neck dive & B sound

Not the Epi, but i have a Gibson T-bird 5 string and have no neck dive issues. The strap pin is at the neck heel, and the butt end strap button is slightly off center, more towards the tail fin. As for the Low B, I did have to adjust teh pickup heighth to get it to sound good and full. When the pickup was too close to the strings it was weak and thin. Tightening down the screw creating distance between the string and the pickup gave it the needed umpfff.

Played one at a local shop, and the B was iffy. Could have been the setup, but damn if it didnt flop and buzz like a mess.

Or maybe it was a little flat. A slightly detuned B can feel that way.

No issues with the B on mine. I did add a strap button at the neck heal position to effectively reduce neck dive as on my Studio 5.

Great sounding bass too if you leave the EQ flat IMO.

i have been reading that to get rid of a lot of the neck dive to move the neck strap lock, before i start drilling away on my new Thunderbird, does anyone have a pic of where exactly to put it so i don't end up with 2 or more holes in my bass, you will be my hero if you do,love the bass ,hate holding on to the neck all night.
Thanks everyone

From what I understand of the Epi Pro's, they did go back and modify the initial design a bit and moved the upper strap peg to the back, and there was a known issue with the output of the B string on the 5 string versions which should be in effect on the recent production models.

Hi everyone.

Im interested in the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro 5-string.

Any of you who own this thing have a neck dive problem?
Also, are you satisfied with the low-B sound this one produces?

Thanx
Petros-J

I love this bass. No issue with the B string at all; it sounds punchy and tight like it should. If you want to hear a sound sample you can check out this demo video I made awhile ago: Epiphone Thunderbird Pro 5 Bass Guitar Demo - YouTube

Also, to fix the neckdive you can do two things:
1. Move the bottom strap pin up about four inches.
2. Move the top strap pin to where the neck plate would be (assuming it's not there already...mine came that way new).

Good luck.
