ERBs, What have you got? Anything with 6 strings or more!

Are those SX basses any good? Seen mixed reviews, seems like a tall order for them to be high quality at their $200 price tag, but if they are then that would be a hell of a deal for a new bass! They look nice enough at any rate.

They are better than you would expect for $199, and 2 of mine were only $99, new.

@mark beem, that 7 string Conklin with the burst neck and Lacewood (I think!) top is literally THE reason I got into ERB. It was seeing that actual that led me to eventually order Binky!

Do you know where it is now? Would love to make an offer on it.

Actually I believe the top is burl redwood but I may be mistaken. It's been a minute or two since I last had it. Last I knew Dan Lenard at Luthier's Access Group had it but that was a long time ago. I have no idea where it is now.

That Binky Bee bass is surely cool, but that neck seems too wide for me!
I DO want a 10 string bass but doubled strings. If worse come to worse I can start building with the Dean 10 string bridge I have in a drawer downstairs.

I have a 6 string but it's actually reduced range RRB as it's tuned in thirds.

(even owned a true 4ths 13 string a while ago!)

Was this the Letts Basses 13? I'm interested in your experiences with that. After the initial designs i was disappointed by the eventual conventional body shape.

I have a hard time thinking of 6-string basses as "ERBs", partly because I've been playing one since well before the term "ERB" came into use, but also because I -- and most of the other 6-string players I'm familiar with -- tend to play the 6 like a bass that (ironically) simply has an extended range...whereas most of the 7-, 8-, 9-, 10+ string bassist I've heard seem to play it as some sub-sonic hybrid of a guitar and a hammer dulcimer, with lots of chords and tapping, and usually as a solo instrument rather than an ensemble instrument in the rhythm section. I apologize if that strikes anyone as an unfair characterization.
