Double Bass Ergo Megathread part I

I'm going to order an Ergo 4 after I sell some of my electric basses.

My question to you Ergo owners is what kind of bow should I get? I'd like to learn how to use a bow, but I need something that'll survive moist summers and dry, cold winters.
I got rid of my electric bass guitars after getting the Ergo. :D

Cool thing about it is that you can play it like an upright... and it sounds like an upright. If you change your string attack to that of an electric bass guitar, you get a nice fretless bass sound.

:D

Awesome you are getting gone!

Gentlemen, (and ladies, I assume)

5 string, #684, only 3 weeks old, and I'd like to join your ranks. And I already have a question.

Been playing it non-stop, and loving the hell out it.

Just popped the original D string. i've seen various strings discussed, D’Addario, Superflixibles, corellis 370, Eurosonic...but I'm only a couple years into the standup thing (both acoustic and this one) and I'm lookin for some guidance. Emailed Jesse, but really shouldn't be botherin him with this, I suppose.

And am I gonna be able to wind standard B and E with original tuners, without soldering?

Thanks for any info, and thanks in advance for the forum.

In fact Jesse and I were talking about this issue today... cause I had the same problem.

Apparently this is a rampant problem with the strings he was buying. So... he is no longer buying from that supplier. Not sure what he is switching to yet.

I am planning on Helicore Pizz strings.

I also popped the original D string.

I replaced them with the Corellis (3/4 length). I understand that the 1/2 length will fit very nicely on the Ergo without any modifications. Those will be my next set. I can't stand looking at the modded E string.

I finally received my Ergo:D I've also set up my sound nicely by running it thru my Pod XT Live and thru my Peavey VB2 and GB neo212T!

However....I've noticed that the swivel joint connection to the bass is loose. Some of it is me because I played with it slightly angled. Does this warrant an email to Tom (or Jessie directly)?

I've also posted this question on the owners club thread. I guess I'm used to the BG side of TB where users usually respond almost asap....
