Ernest Tibbs is Very Good

Just thought I'd drop this here for sharing. Greg Howe has been a favorite of mine for a a long time, and I was poking around YT this morning and came across this set. Tibbs is a master of supportive, tasteful lines with a monster tone, and momma always told me to play nice and share so... Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Agreed - there’s a great number of players with more name recognition that simply don’t play as well as he does. Se la vie for this industry.

His resume is full of artists that are known for challenging material and he always navigates it with grace, class, and a nice sound.

Apologies for zombie thread resurrection, but youtube's algorithm threw this Protocol performance at me late last night and I definitely enjoyed Ernest Tibbs' playing (as well as everyone else's)



Anyone know what brand of bass that is he's playing in that video? I never quite got a good look at the headstock logo.

I met him at the NAMM show about 12 years ago a few months after I saw him in Detroit with Allan Holdsworth. I caught up with him a couple of years ago on the Greg Howe gig. Great player and has great tone. He was excellent with Simone Phillips too.
