Errant Middle Finger

After looking at the new pics you posted, I definitely agree with others that you need to correct some things in your left-hand technique to reduce the tension in your hand and fingers. Here's a great video that illustrates a lot of the points that others have raised:

Hopefully making these adjustments will solve your curling-finger problem by helping to relax your hand, but even they don't solve that particular problem they are worth checking out.

Excellent video, thanks
Glad you liked it. I'll be interested to hear how it works for you.

Here's another vid that might be helpful:

He talks briefly about the "natural position" around the 8:00 mark, though in a slightly different way than the other video. The main message here is simply to use the one-finger-per-fret "thing" when you need it but not when you don't, especially when playing on the lower frets.

Now, I'm not saying I believe in miracles (and I don't want to know where you're from...) but that 'neutral' position malarkey is a winner! I can feel the difference in tension immediately, much more comfortable. I think I was trying so hard to 1 finger per fret and line up the thumb with the middle finger as I had picked up from somewhere that that was the thing to do. Sewlf taught so, you know, my teacher has no idea what he's doing!!

Thanks again for your time folks.
