ESP LTD B-1004 MS any thoughts?

Intonation - I'm struggling to get the intonation spot on with the two highest strings, the grooves in the bridge elements don't go back far enough. Might need some tweaking which isn't perfect.
Have to take that back. That was my fault. I set the neck to straight in my initial setup with my strings of choice. After giving the neck a bit more relief and lowering the action at the bridge in return the intonation is fine.

Love the bass so far.
Will take it to the stage this weekend and decide if I keep it but to be honest I think I'm sold.
If so, I will have to do domething about the edge of the saddle, but that's not a big deal.

Had to return mine - nice bass, but it doesn't sound better than what I currently have, and having one fanned-fret bass in the midst of 34" scale parallel ones doesn't make sense. But I did give it a good setup so if you want it, it will be back on GC's site soon. Comes with a nice ESP HSC and it in essentially new condition.

Interesting... Is this the one you returned?

I didn't know they made some of these in Korea. It looks like maybe the B1005MS "Special Edition" is Korea, and the B1005SE "Deluxe" is Indonesia.

They've got one of each on GC right now. Looks like the headstock is a bit different. The Indonesian one is a bit more rounded off and doesn't have the little triangle of fretboard that goes past the nut. I wonder if there's any other differences.

I will use it my main axe from now on. It's heavier than my current stage bass but the sound...

Tried it in the context of my band, live and some quick recording during rehearsal and its amazing. I have more punch and definition and cut through the mix better while at the same time the overall sound of the band is more transparent, especially in the low end and low mids. And we didn't even fine-tune any frequencies between me and the two guitars yet.

Using the same presets on my Anagram the bass sounds punchier, clearer and grittier through my 2x15"+8"+tweeter, via InEar or into my interface than my other basses.

I continue to prefer playing it passive most of the time, I like how the mids interact with my drives and don't need it to be to clanky. Also rounded the edge of the saddle a bit, that's a lot more comfortable.

Yes, it is, but I'm not sure if Guitar Center has updated their websites yet as it is no longer in Texas, but it's in Florida.

Glad to hear it's working out for you. Yeah those Big Splits I think were a very good choice on ESP's part. I also prefer the passive tone to the point where I'm thinking about pulling the preamp and just going Volume, Volume, Tone, and maybe series/parallel.

just going Volume, Volume, Tone,
Had that on my last stage axe with active EMG DC35s running them without EQ. Didn't like the configuration, happy to have a balance poti again.
I wouldn't mind a tone poti in passive mode but don't really miss it Until now. And actually at least for now I'm really happy to own an axe which I don't feel like modding instantly.
