Double Bass EUB with bridge damping

The Olive Mk1, a self-made electric double bass and the first of its kind to feature rubber bridge damping, giving it a sound close to that of a real double bass.
3 different style of piezo's. In preparartion a magnetic pickup with separated pole pieces and separated tone correction for each pole piece.

My experience with rubber is that the high frequencies are strongly attenuated and only the lower frequencies pass well. Cork is better.
You might want to experiment with that too.
Some bass players might like a dark sound, but others (like me) don’t.
So it might be a matter of taste.

I don’t experience strong attenuation in the high frequencies, but I will check once more—probably over the weekend when my son visits me. He’s the real bass player and with the good ears.
Nevertheless, trying cork is a good idea, although I would need quite a lot of it. The rubber on the low side is almost one inch thick (and about half an inch on the high side).
