Double Bass Eudoxa or Flat-Chromesteel E with Evah Pirazzi?

I actually like the Jazzer E. I think it bows better than the other Jazzers in the set, and better than you would expect considering the name. Pizzed it sustains well, and has strong, full, round tone. I have used one under Evah weichs, Spiro weichs, FCS, and other combinations. However, with Regular Evahs on top I might recommend the Spiro E or even the Spiro Stark E, because you will want the tensions (or perceived tensions) to match. Staying with the same brand won't guarantee that the tone will be compatible, and in this case I think the Spiro is closer tonewise than the other choices.

The FCS E is typically weak pizz within its own set, and likely moreso with the robust Evahs. Eudoxa also will feel looser in comparison to the Evahs. In theory, I think of guts on top of synthetics, but not the other way around. Also Synthetic over steel, gut over steel, plain gut over wrapped, but anything's possible.

I wrote to Pirastro and they recommend me the Permanent E. I tired and it works very well blended with EP. Very good string, I like the feel under my fingers and make my E stronger a lot. I never tired as a set but I can recommend the E to blend with EP!

Pirastro's E strings are generally chosen for arco concentrations. The only pirastro E string I tried that doesn't lay down dead for pizz is the permanent.

The Evah E string on the full set is pretty good for a Pirastro E. There isn't much anywhere that will duplicate that sound. Have you tried a Spirocore Mittel E or Stark E on that bass?

No chance to find a good E string to blend with EP from the Pirastro product line?

As I said if you want to bow it at least occasionally and don't want a Thomastic E string or an Evah E the only thing left in their line that has any pizz strength without sacrificing arco is the Permanent E.

Sounds like you should just put a mittel E on and be done with it. I cant see why you wouldnt be happy with it, clear focused and smooth once it mellows out.

I love EP as a set, I haven't got any problem with the EP E string. My bass has a little weak sound on E string ( like on many contamporary instrument ). But blend EP with Permanent E, solve this problem.

I used Thomastic Spirocore set for many years, than I changed the D & G to Gut! (How lovely that was) than changed the Gut strings to Obligatos for the D & G, then I got a set of Evah Pirazzi Weis and totally in love with it! On all 4 strings I have no complains! Just great and nice bowed too! But still remember the gut days! I honestly should buy another bass just for my Gut fetish! Thomastic Spirocore E & A and Gut D & G. Yep, must get another bass but its a bit like having two wife's.
