Double Bass eurosonics vs. innovations

I do realize that this is a subjective question and even more so considering every bass is different, BUT I would like to know what the general consensus is between the eurosonics and innovations super silvers. The strings are for bluegrass.

I've narrowed it down this far and I'm just doing my research before I spend this much money.
thanks:hyper:

I have not tried any Innovation strings. However I did get an opportunity to play a bass strung with the Eurosonics once. The strings rolled a lot under my fingers, which just felt odd to me. I've never played a string that did that, and it was a deal breaker for me.

Between the Eurosonic/Presto Lights and Ultralights, I've never had any roll.

The difference in texture to me between them and a steel wound string is nothing bad. They kinda feel similar to a plain gut thing once they're broken in. YMMV and all that jazz...

+1
I use the Ultralights and have not had any roll issues. I think the lights would feel big to me. I really like the feel of them - more than plain steel strings - and they seem a very well made and finished string to me. I would not call them a perfect substitute for gut but they have a nice characteristic quality sort of halfway between steel and gut and seem a good match to my bass. All subjective I know...

weird, the only string i have any roll on are my innovations.. i used euro ultra lights for a while and do like them. they have a little bit muddier tone than the snappy bright tone of the innovations. If you would like to try them, i would sell them to you, just shoot me a pm.

I think the roll issue must be with the lights and mediums. Not an issue for me with the ultralights. They are doing a new "wicked ultralight' set which could be interesting to check out but I imagine would only be useful in an amplified context.

I'm very curious to check out the new Lambert nylon faux-gut strings but am sticking with the Prestos for now as I want the dependability at volume of being able to fall back on the magnetic pickup as I sometimes need to get louder than I can count on with the piezo.
