Is it cool to take your 50-year-old band out on tour decades after they've jumped the shark? If so, nobody cares what it says on your instrument!
(...and I write ^^^that as a diehard Yes fan from way back who to this day enjoys listening to music from their apex series.)
I kinda lost interest after Close to the Edge to be honest. I think I saw them on Tales but wasn't crazy about that indulgent piece. I got a Ric in 1973 because of my two heros, PM and CS. I just thought it was funny that Steve Howe was photographed playing a relatively new Ric that still had the Made in US decal on it.
I have to say Mr. Howe sports that Ric rather nicely, decal or no.
I get confused about the difference between a tribute band and a review band.

I'm Canadian. When I got my 4003, I put the sticker on the back of the headstock.
Mine didn't have the push-pull pot. If it did, I would have removed the sticker beside it and thrown it away.

I don’t think it is. But it seems to be a pretty common thing to do amongst Ric devotees. Many of the newer ones I’ve seen for sale in the classifieds have them.

I don't know if it's right or wrong or maybe who even cares but, it reminds me of people that leave those stickers on the brim of their new era sports hats like it's some kind of status symbol or "cool in-thing" to do. I'll never understand it I guess.

Years ago I bought a used e-gtr that still had the plastic on the pick guard and truss rod cover. I peeled it off only to find that the pick guard and truss rod cover had both been damaged by having that clear plastic on for so long. Their finish was sort of etched.
I say take that junk off as soon as possible to avoid damage as they degrade.
