I almost quit over a song. Not because I hated it, I hated how bad it sounded when we did it.
There is huge difference between the two. I would never refuse to play a song because I didn't like it, but if the way we played it sucked, I might.
On the other hand, I was playing in an old school hard rock/metal band and started playing the bass line to Low Rider for a joke. The singer starts singing it in a Jesse Dupree from Jackyl voice and the guitar player was using an over the top, metal crunchie sound. It worked for us and went over like gang-busters. You just never know how the audience will react.
