Ever regretted not buying a bass?

"Regret" is a strong word. BUT looking back it would've been really cool if, back around 1980 I'd bought either of these basses at the store where I worked:
30+ years later, with grown-up financial commitments, I'm far more likely to regret buying than not buying. Monthly bill-paying keeps my GAS in check.

I missed out a NOS ESP vintage 4 for $400. I knew they were going to clear out but the day of the sale just before i was going out for lunch to hunt it, my boss shows up at the site 
Once i had the chance to buy a NOS Yamaha JP6 for $1500. I regret not walking away with it.
And recently i saw a sale of Bongo 6 HH for $1000. And too bad i was broke

Too many to count. Biggest mistake was passing up a MusicMan Cutlass II (Stingray with a graphite neck) in translucent cherry red with a clear pick guard back in 1978. I was a kid who took the bus downtown to the music store just to play it.
I was a sign painter that did a window for a vintage guitar shop. He offered me a 1974 Precision in trade. I took the cash and totally regretted it later.
Other missed opportunities were a used Modulus VJ4, an early 70's jazz, a mint trans. blue G&L2000.
...and to this day I regret selling my '74 Ric 4003.

Back in the late 80s I had a chance to buy a friend's 81/82 Music Man Stingray (natural blonde with maple fingerboard). A few months earlier I had bought myself a new Precision and the bank account was tapped out. Looking back I should have borrowed the money or found a way to get it. And the worst part was the MM played circles around that Precision. Ahh, so young, so naive, so stupid. 
I regret not buying a 5 string cirrus that a friend was selling a few years back. It will randomly cross my mind every now and then... and then I sigh.
