Ever regretted not buying a bass?

I was in a local 2nd hand music store a couple of months ago, i was playing a BC Rich bass called "the wave" it was an early 80's MIJ BC Rich with neck through body and a double Pbass pickup config. It was a real beauty, played like butter. They were asking $299 for it. really wanted to buy it, but having a little guilt abou having alot of great basses already, I passed
I decided to some research on it, not really much to go on, but i did find a previous sale of this BC Rich"wave bass" here on TB from 5 years ago where one sold for $1600!!!!
by the time i got back to the store it had been snapped up

Yeah and not too long ago. This one goes out to Joemilstein. His beautiful fender Aerodyne P bass. Orange flamed maple with cream binding all the way around. But I can't say I'm not happy because I decided instead to go with a fender MIA jazz and it's by far my favorite bass. too bad both were sale at the same time and I only had enough money then for 1.

My BTB 776, it really is a great bass, but I was over ambitious and shouldn't have gone for 6 strings. It's still my main player because I can't afford a new bass yet, plus I'm torn as to wether or not to trade in for a comparable 5 string or just save my money for my dream bass

Two come instantly to mind -

Pre-Ernie Ball Stingray, turd brown w/ maple FB, coulda had it for under $800 around 1991.

1965 Fender Jazz, black w/ matching headstock, RW fretboard, dots w/ binding, paddle tuners. Body had been refinished and neck pickup had been replaced w/ AVRI (orig was long gone). Round about 1995 I could have had it for about $2k.

Both of these were owned by a friend/bandmate who has a shop. I played them both quite a bit and knew them well, but didn't have the funds. They were both great players.

Just thought of sharing this one I missed out on today. Just couldn't pull the finances together in time. :hmm: Somebody got really lucky today. I think I'm going to keep an eye out on eBay and CL to see if it turns up as a flip. :D

Vintage Wal Pro Bass (serial # PB1618) 1980 model. Single pickup model - convertible to active. Needs new input and has a few scratches but otherwise in good condition with all original parts. Reluctantly selling to the right person for $800. Pics to follow...

Oh, back around '91 I could have bought a late '70's Fender P for $100

Then in '94 I could have had a flawless fretless Rickenbacker 4003 for $300

Sometime after that I stopped being an idiot.

In '96 I found a Ric 360SF guitar (with very rare slanted frets) in a pawnshop for $270. At least I got that one!

I had the chance to buy a 4 string Spector Rebop for a ridiculously cheap price. However, at the time, I was kind of obsessed with wanting a 5 string bass so I declined the offer for the Spector.

Well, I finally got a 5 string...and after weeks of trying, I simply couldn't bring myself to enjoy it and reverted back to 4 stringers. Missed the Spector train for nothing. :(

When I was about 15 (30+ years sgo) there was a used Fireglow Hobdo II Rickenfaker on sale in a house clearance shop in Clacton for thirty quid. I know now it would have probably been crap but I so wanted it then and part of me still wants it now I tried to talk my parents in to getting it but no luck....
...I got a short scale Satellite from them that Christmas.

Fender RBIV or V. Every time i see one of those floating around somehow deep inside i slap at my face regretting for not having one of those by the time they were available. I guess this is the ONLY bass i regret not having.

I have an offer right now to trade my Moog Bass MuRF for this exact same bass with it's matching hard case and I'm seriously tempted. I don't need it, as I have two Warwicks, but would I be stupid to pass this up?
