Every Bass player needs a Theme Song



Jerry Jemmott playing the riff originally done by Tommy Cogbill. Chuck Rainey used it on a different King Curtis cut a few years later.

My dad is a sax player, so this is the sort of stuff I grew up listening to in lily-white northern Minnesota, about as far as you can get from Memphis and still be near the Mississippi river.

My son always wants to know my favorite this or that, but I always insist I don't have a any faves. So I'll just go with what I'm grooving on today, NG La Banda with their 1994 timba classic "Santa Palabra." You can't see Feliciano Arango much on bass, but you can hear him. The great Calixto Ovieda on drums, Tony Calá lead vox, José Luis Cortés director, backing vox
