Everybody loves Marcus sound, except me?

To me, it seems as though he doesn't really know much about fingerstyle

Wow dude...you ARE aware that he was a studio musician for quite some time, right? If you're going to do studio work you'd better be able to deliver on what the producers want, so I'm pretty sure Marcus can do finger style if he wanted to...same as Chris Squire could play without a pick, but does he want/have to?

No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.
 
I'll bite, I'm not huge on his slap tone. Not knowing much of Marcus outside of his solo records and SMV, I havn't heard him play much other than slap.

This doesn't change the fact that he's an outstanding musician, though.
 
Like I said, I respect Marcus because he is an amazing musician first and foremost. I know he is considered a virtuosic bass player, but besides that he plays a variety of other instruments (winds and keys) very well, and he is also an accomplished composer, arranger, and producer.
