Excited...Debuting Two "New" Basses at a Gig Tonight!

We play in two different tunings throughout the evening, so I always bring two basses. Tonight I have two, new (to me), basses to bring. The only question is which one to play in standard tuning (which is 80% of our set list). Decisions decisions.... ;-)

As for the tuning question: if you'll have little prep time, then detune whichever has higher action. If that's irrelevant... well, to me it doesn't matter, I've played classic Motown/oldies/country/blues on a Modulus Quantum, RHCP funk slap on a P-bass, etc.

What's with that Fender P/J? Is it a Jazz rerouted to accommodate a P pickup config?

Where did you find the Electra? Last time I saw one of those was in a pawn shop, in DC, 30 years ago.

I really shouldn't be doing this because my schedule is brutal right now but I will take those two basses play them and give you a very detailed analysis of my findings unfortunately I can't disclose my methods because of contractual obligations although I will say we are the world leader in these types of tests.

The P/J was made that way at the factory. It was part of a 75 piece limited run initially. They are now in production, but you have to get it from Fender Japan.
