I suppose I'm just not used to talking like I'm among nuns, when I'm among musicians.
By your standards, I guess my work environment is a convent. I've never asked a coworker for the mother<edit>ing stapler. Or told him that his last report was built like a brick ****house. And the grocery store? Convent. I can't remember the last time I told that b**** to give me my f***ing apples and my receipt.

I didn't know talking without gratuitious profanity was talking like a nun. I'm perfectly capable of dropping an f-bomb when I feel the need. The key to respect is knowing when/where that time is. This website is apparently not one of them. I'm not sure where this gets confusing enough to question.

I think the explanation of my username is somewhat obvious, although here's a little pickle for ya: The name Zoltok. My Grandpa was born in Russia, but the part that he was born in is now Poland, because of shifting boundaries and all that. Does that mean my last name is Russian, or Polish? I think it's Rolish :smug:

Didn't mean to suggest they are.

I just come from old school Jazz...and in those circles, if you're considered REALLY good, they say you're a Mother...well, you know.

I suppose I'm just not used to talking like I'm among nuns, when I'm among musicians.

I meant no disrespect...and I'm sorry about the threadjacking.
Is it really that difficult to speak without swaring? Have you ever had a job?

Neither. You're Canadian and that unfortunate fact overrides any interesting story about the origin of your name. Sorry. On to the next ****ing post.

Mike

Just so you know, I'm ****ing joking.

Please children, ignore this angry little boy. He knows not what he speaks. :spit:

Just so you ****ing know, I too am ****ing joking.

I like a lot of different music; really don't get rap/hiphop/emo,that kind of stuff. Old metal, classic rock, blues, country (new&old), bluegrass, dixieland, classical; quite varied. But my #1 favorite for the last 25 years is southern rock. It's slagged a lot; but try to play it correctly! There are numerous styles involved. I see a lot of guys say "oh,I played skynyrd in my last band", but only knew how song went and could not play it right! Just like someone who knows how to hack thru a jazzy song saying "oh,I can play jazz". so...rebelbass + rebel (southern influence) + bass (no brainer!)

No, I'm 45 and have never had a job.

Apparently, my language offends everyone.

I've been on about a half dozen albums, and played on stage in front of as many as ten thousand people, though.

You? ...Just in your bedroom?

Until now, I didn't realize how perfectly your username fit you - well almost perfectly anyway.

Ope! Ya got me. He hath discovered I am but a lowly bedroom player, destined to go nowhere in the music business. Because of this what I say does not matter. My god, I can't believe I offended him. I mean, he's had more music experience then me, so he must be right! Oh how foolish of me!

:rollno:

Congratulations on never having had to work a day in your life, I wish we could all be so lucky. Unfortunately, my attempt at making a point is now out the window. I'll try a new one. Some of the people on this site are very young (the youngest is what, 11?). TB does not want to be responsible for exposing them to harsh language. It is inevitable that they will learn these words, they just shouldn't learn them here.

The alternative to moderation is no moderation. Go check out a battle.net forum, and decide which one you prefer.

Not really. Your characterization of this site and the members could be construed as a bit offensive, though. No need to turn this into a urinating contest by comparing your career with that of a teenager.

Right, but it's fine if he asks sarcastically if I've ever had a job. Funny thing is, I really did apologize for threadjacking. All I did was try to explain my username...with NO profanities, I might add...and yet, I've been attacked, harrassed, and even had my post deleted.

...but it's my fault, of course...because as I said before; I'm clearly just a Basshole.

Back on topic. I've never put my real name on this site for a variety of reasons. The main one was that a previous employer used to periodically "Google" our name and its various forms to see if we were job hunting. I had posted a number of uncomplementary descriptions of that job on this site, so I didn't need the two to be tied together.

I have since quit that job (about a year ago) and was going to post my name on here, but decided to google it one more time to see what turned up. The old job and its voluntary affiliates still have a number of documents online with my name and home phone number. So you'll have to live a little while longer with that empty feeling inside.

I was being serious. Many people on this site have never had to work a day in their lives because of their musical ability. But since you were being sarcastic, it allows me to make my original point. Just treat this site like you would a normal workplace environment. Don't sware constantly, and don't anger the boss(es). But we're much more relaxed here, so have a seat and stay a while.

You've given me a new idea for a sig.

Never said it was but a) it was a decent question as evidenced by your answer and b) once you posted your age and knowing his I held you to a higher standard.

But part of your explanation was knock on this site, its members, moderators and its rules. You didn't really think that no one would respond, did you?

gop = The Grand Old Party, i.e. the Republican Party, of which I am a member and grassroots activist.

Jeff = the shortened version of my first name.

Since both start with the 'soft g' sound, I thought it would be a decent username. I use it on pretty much every forum I'm on.
