Extension Cabinet for Tech 21 Power Engine Duece Deluxe?

Hello to all.

For the past year, I have been using a Tech 21 Power Engine Duece Deluxe, which is similar to the VT-200 combo (minus the built-in Sansamp), with my bass. (I run it through a Sansamp Para Driver, with the output set at line level.) Until Covid, when I played out (about once a month--I'm a hobbyist not a pro) I used it as a monitor, and ran direct into the PA. But now during lockdown I have been jamming (outdoors) with some neighbors, one of which plays loud electric guitar, and I feel that I need additional power.

Would the Tech 21 EX112 extension cabinet make sense for me? Or a different extension cabinet? (I don't want to buy a whole new bass amp.)

Many thanks!

Just about any 8 ohms cabinet could be used with your combo, but the EX112 seems to be designed specifically to go with it. It is 8 ohms and limited to 100 watts, just like the combo. You will get the maximum 200 watts out of the combo with this extension cabinet. If you are happy with the combo's sound then adding the EX112 would make sense. Other external cabinets might not pair nicely with this amp.

Thanks, that's what I thought (and yes I am happy with the combo's sound when I run through a Sansamp pedal -- it doesn't have a preamp of its own)

The cab arrived today. I'm undewhelmed. I think I've had unrealistic expectations about how much more power I need to really feel the bass. Not sure if I'll keep it (it does sound fuller with the extension cab than without) or not. I probably would be happier with a different rig entirely, but I just bought an expensive guitar amp (I'm primarily a guitar player) and I don't have more $ for this hobby right now.

After playing a bit more -- maybe my living room isn't a fair place to judge this. I'll take it to my next outdoor jam (should be next Wedsneday) and see how it sounds there.
