Well, the eBay seller said flame maple , but it appears to be the now "extinct" chestnut. It is the actual bass at the top of the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] to represent the Monarch model (seller said it was an Emporer). Oh well.

I-Love-Ratm, No, these are not my basses. That photo was taken at an open-day at JD's workshop in Birmingham, England to celebrate 25 years of JayDee guitars (quite correct Malthumb!). Those basses belonged to some of the attendees and include the very first JayDee bass made (2nd from right, front row) and a bass that used to belong to Mark King and was used on the Live from Wembly video (third from right, front row).

BTW - JDGA ... i did end up with my '85 GA24 from the little vintage shop in Hollywood ...

I took it apart and steel-wooled the clear, serviced everything -- no major bumps or dings, fret or board wear ... just a bunch of TLC --

then I buffed the %#@& out of it ... and viola it is spectacular!

I got it for way under what we were talking about since the shop mistook it for an MK rather than GA!! I'm a real happy camper with my brazilian mahogany baby ...

I believe they are benaventes. I have no idea how to spell it! lol. I think its just a stain with matte.

The finishes are a satin type that Chris uses - VERY durable for real world playing. They wipe down easy and look GREAT with very little maintenance.

Whats that second bass?

The neck body joint area and the body shape make me think Modulus except for that little point at the bottom.
