EZDrummer - what do you think about it?

I've got Ezdrummer. I really like the drums sounds, but I can't help thinking there should be more 3/4 drum patterns available.

I know I can make my own midi drum loops (or buy their packs), but I wish there could be more of them to be used as references and starting points for my own.

What do you think (about that specific matter and the software in general)?

I don't know about EZ drummer, but superior drummer can convert standard GM midi drum tracks and use those - and god knows there are plenty of those laying around the internet for free. it should be just about the same since superior drummer is the bigger brother of EZ drummer. Reason I know this is because we have superior drummer in my band's studio - really kick *** program for laying down cue tracks.

My view is slightly off topic to the thread title, but to respond to your post as quoted...

SD2 is great for getting the drum sounds I want - but for the performance, MIDI loops are always going to be limiting. I like Jamstix for this reason. It does things in a much more "human" way than playing with loops can do, imo.

I use Jamstix to generate the performance and then use the output to trigger the drum sounds in SD.

You know what, I am not sure. I thought it was a program totally separate from EZ Drummer. We've not even opened the box yet.

My understanding is that whatever we got was a drum replacement program. I thought it was a program where you can record normal drums, and then it'll digitally reproduce the drums on separate tracks, so you'll have absolutely no headaches from mic bleed.

At the same time, I did a google search for "Drummer from Hell" and didn't turn up any such program that looked familiar. I'm not sure the "drum kit from Hell" looks familiar, so I'll have to take another look at it...

EZ Drummer sounds killer, it's easy to use, and if you don't want to spend a ton of time learning all the nuances of touch sensitivity, and change all the drum volume levels etc, EZ Drummer is fast and simple.

If however you want ultimate flexibility to change drum volumes in a kit and other parameters, Superior 2.0 offers more.

For me, EZ Drummer is all I need. All I wanted was a toaster. (EZ Drummer) .... not a microwave/toaster oven with 5 stage cooking and browning element and progammable modes for every kind of food. Ya know? If you want all those options and flexibility, get Superior.
