F Bass BN5 vs BNF5?

I have both. BNF5 is obviously fretless, with an ebony fingerboard, deep cutaway and 28 fret positions. The body has alder wings with a center maple tone block. The body doesn't have the BN5 'hump' at the right strap button. You can get any bridge you choose, including the AC wood type. I have the aluminum Hipshot type. I am so pleased with mine, it has the classic Fender tone but 'richer'. The ergonomics and playability are exquisite. it's probably my all-time favorite bass.

They also have different body shapes and different length fretboards (necks). The BNF has an extended treble side cutaway and a 28 position fingerboard.

Would that not be a fretless BN? Or do they also call that a BNF? I’ve seen BNFs with frets as well.

When I bought it from Adrian Garcia (he had George custom make it), I'm pretty sure he said BNF5. Could be wrong though, that was a long time ago.

Edit....nope, I checked the thread from when I bought it in 2004 and you are right. It is a fretless BN5.

Here is Donovan at Fretspot from 7 months ago noting the BNF has been discontinued and replaced with a Fretless BN option. The BNF name covers the extended fretboard and and cutaway.
